About Darin E. Posey

This Memorial Scholarship is named to honor the memory, service and dedication of
a member of Pi Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
Darin Edward Posey, a young man, made a powerful impact upon many people; young
and old, and without regard to race. Darin was a product of a historically black college,
North Carolina A & T, and his pride for his Alma Mater was only matched by his love for
God first, his family and his Fraternity.

Darin Edward Posey was born March 10, 1980. He departed suddenly on September 10,
2003. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church (DC); an original
member of the children’s choir and youth ensemble. He was a Cub Scout/Boy Scout and
he was a youth hospitality minister. Darin played alto sax and sang in the choir. At Bishop
McNamara High School, he made his presence known in football, track, choir, black
culture alliance and peer ministry. Darin was a walk-on of the 2000 N.C. A & T MEAC
Championship football team. Darin was a member of the Aggie escorts; live wire pep club
and a volunteer youth mentor in the Greensboro public schools. In his senior year (May
2002) he was the Aggie Ambassador of the Year and graduated with honors with a degree
in Electronic and Computer Technology. He became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated through Pi Upsilon Lambda Chapter in November 2002. He was a member of the (Alpha) D.C. Coalition Step Team. Darin successfully organized the PUL Road Scholars College Tour in April 2003. He facilitated students being accepted to college. He was employed with the Central Intelligence Agency and Six Flags America in Largo, MD. He facilitated summer jobs for high school students at Six Flags. Darin life
demonstrated positive values and a great work ethic.

The recipient(s) of the Darin Edward Posey Memorial Scholarship must demonstrate
principles, values and work ethic that were exemplified in the life of Darin Edward Posey.
Recipient(s) may use community service, church service and unselfish acts and deeds to
demonstrate in their essays their commitment and dedication to mankind, as exemplified
in the life of Darin Edward Posey.

The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered with North Carolina A & T State
University before disbursement. Proof of registration/enrollment must be submitted to
the Charitable Foundation not later than September 30th after receiving the award. After
submitting proof of registration, funds will be distributed to the scholarship recipient via
the university registrar/financial aid office.

Scholarship Criteria is contingent upon the following areas:

The recipient must:

1. Be a graduating Prince George's County High School Senior
2. Be pursuing a degree in a science related field
3. Accepted by and must attend North Carolina A&T State University
4. Be an African American Male

4. Written Narrative (two page maximum, typed)
5. Counselor Recommendation
6. Parent(s) or guardian last tax year W-2 or Tax Statement
7. Financial Need
8. Submit an email address
9. Submit a professional wallet size photo (either a class graduation photo (with cap and gown) or a noncasual dress photo (NO PROOF PHOTOS). Failure to submit the proper photo will disqualify the application.

PROOF OF REGISTRATION AND ENROLLMENT IN YOUR
UNIVERSITY MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE FOUNDATION NO LATER THAN
SEPTEMBER 30th AFTER HAVING RECEIVED THE AWARD,
IN ORDER TO RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENT.
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY DATE REQUIREMENTS VOIDS THE
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD.
