
About Marian A.Williams
Marian A.Williams peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 4, 2005, in Clinton, Maryland.
Born Marian Torain on November 20, 1927, in Baltimore, Maryland, she graduated from Saint Francis High School in Baltimore.
In the District of Columbia, she embarked on a dynamic career of community service. She was a member if the Area Planning Council that was responsible for many recreational, health and educational facilities throughout Southeast Washington. In the later portion of her career she was a highly regarded Teacher in the field of Special Education. For thirteen years she touched lives and shaped minds in the D.C. Public Schools System.
Marian touched many throughout the Washington Metropolitan area by helping to provide better learning facilities, access to health care and places of recreation thus adding true value to lives of others. She often did these things in anonymity avoiding the limelight and fanfare. She truly valued humanity and instilled a sense of community in all those around her. She touched many and thus her legacy will live long.

Scholarship Criteria is contingent upon the following areas:
The recipient must:
- Be a graduating senior of the District of Columbia, Prince George's County or Anne Arundel County schools.
- Any field of study is acceptable. However, students studying in the field of education will be given additional consideration.
- Accepted by any accredited college or university
- Submit a wallet sized photo (business attire/portrait)
- Submit a timely, legible, completed application
- Submit the written narrative
- Be an African American Male or Female
Items that must be listed and included in your application:
- Academic Achievement
- Extracurricular Activities
- Community Involvement
- Written Narrative (two page maximum, double spaced and typed)
- Counselor Recommendation(s)
- Parent(s) or guardian last tax year W-2 or Tax Statement
- Statement of Financial Need (limited to one page), if necessary
All applicants will be scheduled for an interview by the Scholarship Committee.

*Please Note: Proof of registration and enrollment (your bill) in your university must be Submitted to the Foundation no later than September 30th, after having received the award, in order to receive scholarship payment. Failure to comply with any date requirement voids the scholarship award.
